SHIFTING GROUNDS
Rooted loosely in landscape and horizon lines, the work reflects places that feel remembered rather than observed, where atmosphere, movement and emotion take precedence over representation.

The paintings are developed through an intuitive process of layering, scraping back and reworking. Colour plays a central role, often held in tension: soft passages disrupted by stronger marks, calm surfaces unsettled by shifts in tone and texture. Nothing is static; each piece evolves through response rather than resolution.

Shifting Ground speaks to moments when certainty slips and new footing has to be found. Rather than offering conclusions, the work remains open — holding space for ambiguity, balance and the possibility of change.

This is the largest of the new collection. On the Brink captures the suspended moment before release — when the sky is heavy with rain and the land holds its breath. The horizon sits under pressure, colour gathering and deepening, as if the surface is about to shift.
