SHIFTING GROUNDS
Rooted loosely in landscape and horizon lines, the work reflects places that feel remembered rather than observed, where atmosphere, movement and emotion take precedence over representation.

The paintings are developed through an intuitive process of layering, scraping back and reworking. Colour plays a central role, often held in tension: soft passages disrupted by stronger marks, calm surfaces unsettled by shifts in tone and texture. Nothing is static; each piece evolves through response rather than resolution.
Shifting Ground speaks to moments when certainty slips and new footing has to be found. Rather than offering conclusions, the work remains open — holding space for ambiguity, balance and the possibility of change.
Here is a small sample of some of the work I will be exhibiting

Passing Storm I & II
A diptych in response to the British changeable weather. The storm passing through, quickly. Dark one minute with downpours and bright and sunny the next.

12 new Mini Panels
I'm also working on 12 new mini 10 x 10cm panels. These get as much attention as one of my larger pieces. They are resting at the moment, waiting to see if they need anything more.

Works in Progress
Much of my work is still a work in progress and in the studio, ready to be finished and framed.

Works on panel
I have 8 new panels in this format 50 x 20 cm which will be framed into St Ives white frames. I've built up the layers using collage, crackle paste and paint.
I'm really excited to see these come together.
